Appointments must be cancelled or rescheduled no less than 24 hours before your session. This can be done online within your Jane account. Changes made within the 24 hour window may be subject to a cancellation fee.
Due to the close proximity required for bodywork, please reschedule your appointment if you feel unwell. If you recovering from a cold and have returned to regular function but still have lingering congestion, it is requested that you wear a mask during your session. The cancellation fee is sometimes waived in the event of illness. However if you show up to your appointment obviously sick, your session will be cancelled and you will be charged the full amount.
Clinical bodywork is a healthcare service similar to physical therapy and completely unsexual in nature. Any client behavior that is inappropriate such as suggestive comments, inappropriate touching, or intimidation, will not be tolerated. If a clients exhibits this type of behavior the session will be terminated immediately and payment will be required in full. The client will also be blocked from rescheduling. Zero Tolerance means this policy is strictly enforced and there will be no warnings or second chances given.
Traditionally myofascial release involves the client disrobing to their level of comfort and being covered by a sheet and blanket on the table. However your comfort as a client is my priority, so remaining clothed is always an option. Craniosacral therapy, visceral manipulation and buccal massage are typically clothed sessions, unless they are being combined with myofascial work. For movement and mobility, please wear comfortable and stretchy clothing that allows for full range of motion.
If you are training for a race or event, you would ideally schedule your bodywork sessions on your rest days. If that is not possible, it is strongly recommended that you do not plan an intense workout the same day as your session. Training after bodywork in particular can cause increased soreness and subpar performance. It's also crucial that you plan to increase your hydration for the 12-24 hours following your appointment to maximize benefits.
While it is always my goal to provide bodywork that is calming and balancing for your nervous system, I do not provide full body swedish massage where the single goal is relxation, similar to what you may find in a spa setting. Clinical bodywork is meant to address more specific goals such as pain relief, increased mobility, pregnancy support and supporting your body's own "Inner Physician".
Please arrive clean and showered to your appointment and limit the use of strong fragrances. Please know sessions start promptly at their scheduled time and I am typically unable to extend an appointment to accommodate a late start. Also please understand that the session time includes intake and assessment- this is crucial so I can be sure to clarify your needs and goals and how I can best meet them.
