FAQS AND COVID INFO

WHAT ARE YOUR CLEANING PRACTICES?

Your health and well being during your session is my primary concern. Therefore the following procedures have been implemented:
-Air purification unit in the treatment room.
-Thorough sanitizing of the treatment room between each session.
-All linens, towels, and pillowcases changed and sanitized after every appointment.

-All therapists wash hands and forearms before and after every session.

-Your therapist will wear a N95 mask upon request.

-Masks are not required of clients but can be provided upon request.
If you have questions about any of these procedures or are high risk, please don't hesitate to reach out before making an appointment.

WHAT IS YOUR SICK POLICY?

Receiving bodywork while sick is not only disrespectful to your therapist, it can make you feel worse instead of better. If you are feeling unwell prior to your appointment, please reach out to me as soon as possible via email or phone so we can discuss reschedule options. I tend to waive the cancellation fee in these situations, though it's always determined on a case by case basis. If you choose to show up visibly sick to your appointment your session will be cancelled and you will be charged the full amount.

DO YOU HELP TREAT TERMINAL OR CHRONIC ILLNESS?

Massage is not used to treat or diagnose any illness or disease.  It can provide relief for musculoskeletal pain, support circulation and lymphatic movement, and alleviate stress.  If you are suffering from a severe illness, particularly cancer or MS, please contact me prior to making an appointment so we can determine if massage would be safe and beneficial.

HOW SHOULD I PREPARE FOR MY FIRST SESSION?

If this is your first bodywork session, feel free to contact me with any specific questions.  While it's not always possible, you want to schedule your appointment on a "rest day", be it from training or life in general, to maximize therapeutic benefits.  Please come to your appointment showered and refrain from wearing any strong fragrances. Some modalities may require you to stay clothed so comfortable athletic clothing is requested. Hydrating well after your session with electrolytes is highly recommended.

WHAT IS VISCERAL MANIPULATION?

Visceral Manipulation is the practice of supporting the healthy mobility of organs, nerves, and vascular structures through gentle manual therapy. The practice focuses on addressing restrictions in the connective tissues of the abdomen. Please see the visceral manipulation blog post for more information about this wonderful modality.

HOW SHOULD I SCHEDULE MY MASSAGES AROUND MY TRAINING?

It is safe to schedule a massage both before and after a competition- techniques will be tailored to your needs.  If you are scheduling a maintenance massage, chose a recovery day- you do not want to get a massage and immediately do a hard workout afterward.
